Artist of the Month: January

Yes, Artist of the Month is back for 2017!

And my first Artist of the Month for this year is rock’n’roll band Eva Plays Dead.

The East Midlands based four-piece, who have been together since 2013, consists of drummer Seb Boyse, vocalist Tiggy Dee, guitarist Matt Gascoyne and bassist Zach Shannon.

It’s safe to say that 2016 was pretty challenging for Eva Plays Dead, after having £3,000 worth of kit stolen from their tour van over the summer.

Despite this set-back, the band and their supporters have remained undeterred. With help from the press, a Go Fund Me page, which was actually set up by a fan, managed to raise an incredible £3,120 – alongside the rockers themselves selling a line of one-off special T-shirts to help raise funds.

From then on, the band have gone from strength to strength; Eva Plays Dead’s latest single, Bones, received airplay from Kerrang! Radio, and the music video premiere for the track was also launched through Kerrang!, becoming the second ‘hottest’ article on the website. Impressive!

The four-piece have also recently announced that they’re supporting New Zealand rock-band Devilskin on their 10-date UK tour – including a gig at Nottingham’s Rock City in March. You can find tickets here. Not only this, but the band will also be keeping busy, having been announced to play WildFire Festival in Scotland, and Camdem Rocks All-Dayer.

Stand Out Track: Bones

Packed full of attitude and angst, Eva Plays Dead have created a classic. The  intense vocals from powerhouse Tiggy give the track an edge, matching the punchy guitar and drum riffs throughout.

The track also features some relatable, just-as-angsty lyrics, such as “I’m sick of your s**t, sick of your lies,” and “I’m sick of hearing the same old songs.”

Catch Eva Plays Dead next…
